Who we are

The Rona Trust is one of the longest running Sail Training organisations in the UK, established for more than 45 years. In that time, we have taken over 30,000 young people to sea and given them the experience of a lifetime, greater self-confidence and a new perspective on the world.

From our original aims we have evolved into a unique organisation that develops a young person's self-confidence through teamwork and friendship in a nautical environment.

As part of that evolution, we are also one of the largest Sailability organisations in the country - taking disabled young people to sea.

With a dedicated full-time team of just five, most of the Rona Trust's 300 regular sailing members are volunteers. Their active support enables us to touch the lives of a large and disparate group of people, all of whom, in their own way, significantly benefit from an experience at sea.
