Through the medium of the sea to develop those characteristics in a young person that will benefit them for the rest of their life.
We will be providing the opportunity for some 130 young people from all walks of life to take part in a life-changing adventure that they could not otherwise afford. Racing across the Atlantic Ocean with other sail training yachts and square-rigged Tall Ships from around the world.
Competition for a place in the Race crew is fierce and is won only by the most deserving of our young people.
Our three but soon to be four Sail Training Yachts, are worked hard each year. We take the opportunity of a Transatlantic Race every 10 years to complete a major refit, initially for the Race but also to ensure 10 more years of service at home.
To enter in the Tall Ships Race and refit the boat for another 10 years of service, we need to raise £250,000, half of this will be raised by the crews themselves, but the balance relies on the generosity of sponsors: commercial, philanthropic or personal.
